our first monthly anniversary: a sun, a beach, a petrol station, and a singing scotsman

So I think it's about time I jump in and blog about our first monthly anniversary which was last Sunday 11/6/06. The weather was great and Ali prepared for us to go and spend it on the beach in Margate. It was my first time to go there and God it was packed. So we had a nice time sunbathing, although we didn't consider going for a swim with the crowd first because of, well, the crowd and second because it was too poor compared to the wonderful beaches of St. Lucia. Anyway, by the end of the day we got into the car and started driving towards London. A few minutes later Ali noticed that the heat light was flashing in front of him on the dashboard so we stopped at a petrol station to check the water in the car. To make a long story short, in the careful attempt to open the water bottle it kind of exploded and the cap flew away. We kept searching for it for over an hour. After a lot of searching, people helping, mechanics phoning, we decided to leave the car and return to London by train. From Victoria station we took the tube home and after passing a few stops a man wearing the Scottish traditional outfit started singing out of the blue with a very loud voice. Actually he was not bad. It was really funny when the old lady that accompanied him was shouting at him to shut up and at some point was smacking him with her purse :) We reached home a little after midnight.

So, it was a pretty memorable first monthly anniversary and I enjoyed it despite all the hassle. Of course yesterday I had to go buy another cap and meet Ali after work and go to Margate again by train to get the car back. hmmm... Margate 2 days in a row.. I think that's more than enough.
